 Help & FAQs

There are several places on our site that offer help. Click on the (?) icons in your profile for more information on particular criteria. For other Help and FAQ's, read the questions below. If your question still remains unanswered, email infousa@studentawards.com with your question and all relevant details.

What kinds of awards do you have on the site?
Studentawards.com has a comprehensive database of awards offered by public sector, private sector and not-for-profit organizations, as well as information on some of the most obscure sources of funding available. What's more, you'll find awards that are only available to studentawards.com members!

I'm a good student, but not a rocket scientist. Are there awards in the database for students like me?
Yes. There are many awards in our database that are based on hobbies and interests, rather than scholastic achievement. Other awards may be available for people of a specific heritage or cultural background. Make sure you complete these parts of your profile carefully.

Is studentawards.com just for undergrads?
No. Our database contains award information for graduating high school students, undergraduates and graduate students. The database has information on scholarships, bursaries, grants, fellowships and other financial awards.

How do I fill out my profile to get the most award matches?
The more detailed your profile is, the more award matches you will see. All of the fields within the registration form act as criteria for award searches. Awards are coded and then matched against the fields in the form. For example, a scholarship that is for a U.S. citizen that is a female from California, with a GPA of 3.5, will only be shown to students that select all of these options in their profile. The more information you complete on the form, the better your chances of finding funding that you will qualify for.

I am a part-time student. Are there any awards in the database for me?
Yes. Many sponsors do not restrict part-time students from applying for their awards. In fact, some awards are only for part-time students.

I selected "African-American" from the pull-down menu but no awards for African-Americans are showing up in my mailbox. Why?
The sponsors of most of the awards in the database have specified more than one eligibility criterion. For example, the award might be available to students who are African-American AND who live in Connecticut AND are between 17-22 years of age. If the personal information you provided matches with all of the selection criteria in our example, the award will show up in your mailbox.

How do I apply for awards?
Instructions on how and when to apply for an award are included in the Award Details, which you will see once you click on an award title in your mailbox. Some awards have online applications, while others require that you contact the administrator through a Web site or through a mailing address.

I've applied for some awards - when will I find out if I've won any of them?
Most award administrators contact award winners by email or mail. Make sure that your contact information is correct and up-to-date. Since most award administrators only contact winners and/or finalists, if you are not contacted a few weeks after the award deadline, chances are you have not been selected as a winner. If you have further questions about the award winner, contact the award administrator using the contact information provided in the Award Details. Studentawards.com does not provide this information.

What awards are available to me?
In order to find awards you are eligible to apply for, you must complete the member registration form, which includes choosing login information for your mailbox (where studentawards.com delivers your award matches and other valuable information). Studentawards.com will then match your profile with awards you are eligible to apply for (based on the information you provided) and give you details on award application procedures and instructions. To start your scholarship search, please go to www.studentawards.com

I'm concerned about the information you are asking me to fill in - what do you use this information for?
Studentawards.com takes online privacy issues seriously. For more information, please read our privacy policy

How do I change my profile?
Changing your profile is really easy. As soon as you login, you have immediate access to your personal profile. Users simply need to login and click on “Edit Profile” on the navigation bar. You can edit your profile as often as you like. But remember, if you edit your profile, the awards listed in your mailbox will change to reflect your new profile. Hint: You may want to print out a copy of the awards currently in your mailbox before changing your profile.

What do I do if I forget my password or the email address I registered with?
If you forgot your password, click on the "Forgot your password?" feature on the home page. You will then be asked to enter the email address you registered with. Once you have entered the correct email address, your Password Reminder question will be presented. As soon as you have submitted the correct answer, your password will appear on screen. Remember it! Please note: If you are unable to remember your email address, for security reasons, we will not be able to provide you with access to your mailbox. You will need to create a new profile.

I have a particular skill or interest that I think is an important criteria but I can't find it in the profile. Why not?
The questions we ask in the profile are directly related to the eligibility criteria of the awards in our database. If you are not asked about a specific criterion in the profile, it is because there are no awards in our database that use that as eligibility criteria.
